The area that surrounds Georgetown is noted for its scenic beauty, and this will be the backdrop for a family friendly bicycle fundraiser that has been organized in support of children's charities.
Five different routes have been organized for this year's Red Poppy Ride, and the participants can choose whichever one they wish. They will all be moderately flat with a few rolling hills and take riders through the eastern portion of Williamson County.
Cyclists are welcome to register on their own or as a group, and one of the courses that can be followed will be a 12 mile “family circle”. The other options will be 29, 40, 62 and 100 miles long. Those who complete their registration by March 24th will receive a t-shirt that has been printed with a special graphic design that was created for the occasion.
Riders are asked to gather at Richarte High School in Georgetown before they head out for the day. The routes will all end at Rentsch Brewery, and when they arrive, the cyclists will be welcome to be part of the post ride celebration that has been planned.
This event, which has been organized in support of three different local children's charities, will be hitting the roads around Georgetown on April 13th. All ages and levels of ability are encouraged to participate.
