Georgetown welcomes residents and visitors to kick start the holiday season with the Annual Lighting of the Square tradition.
Beginning on the east steps of the Williamson County Courthouse, the event aims to bring the community together to witness thousands of lights transforming the square into a magical, winter wonderland.
Caroling and live music at the start of the celebrations will set a festive mood as attendees count down the minutes to the official switch-on. Local restaurants and shops will stay open until late, ensuring attendees have the chance to explore Georgetown’s eateries and offerings beneath the newly lit holiday lights. Event organizers can often leverage flyer printing during events like this to share parking details, downtown specials, and schedules.
It is a free event that is open to the public, with the aim of drawing visitors from across Central Texas. With free parking offered at nearby locations, attendees are encouraged to arrive early to get a better view of the lighting ceremony. Participants can also donate toys to organizations such as the Williamson County Brown Santa.
The Lighting of the Square ceremony will take place on Friday, November 29, 2025, from 5:30 pm, starting at Williamson County Courthouse. The lights will then be lit every evening throughout the holiday season. There is no registration required to attend the event.
