Georgetown workshops to help diabetics live their best life

Diabetes affects many of those who call the Georgetown area home, and a workshop will give them tools they can use to help stay healthy and feeling great.

The Baylor Scott and White Clinic has made arrangements to hold a learning session for those who have been diagnosed as having diabetes, and it will give them knowledge they can use throughout their life. Each of the classes will run for two hours, and there will be four sessions on the agenda.

The first class will address the first post diagnosis period, including medications, home glucose testing, and the importance of keeping active and eating a good diet. The second will build on this, and this will be accompanied by tips for dining out and making the most of sick days. During the third workshop, the focus will be heart health and the benefits of weight loss, and the final event will explore ways an individual can prevent complications related to the disease.

While this sort of short course can provide a lot of information, the attendees will often want to learn even more. Training manuals can provide details that are not covered during the classes, and a printing services company will be able to craft them using comb binding and other techniques.

The start date for the Diabetes Boot Camp will be December 7. The venue for the sessions will be located at 4945 Williams Drive.
