Caring for an aging parent or other adult comes with its own set of challenges, and a Georgetown program will give area residents tools they can use to hit the ground running.
A boot camp-style event for family caregivers has been planned for the community, and those who would like to take part can do so online. It is intended for those who are new to the practice, and it's on offer free of charge.
The activity, which is being hosted thanks to AGE of Central Texas, will take place at the EMS Training Center, and it will include input from a variety of not-for-profit groups that offer support and services to area seniors. It may be of particular interest to those who live in rural communities, and dementia, fall prevention, and many other topics are all on the agenda for discussion. The workshop will run for five hours.
As more people take on an active caregiving role for their elderly parents, there may also be an increase in the number of people who need respite care and other community supports. A brochure printing company can prepare publications that let the public know what is on offer to help them in their area.
The AGE Caregiver training camp will begin at 9:00 am on February 20. It will begin at 9:00 am, and will use the Zoom platform.
