Georgetown to be moonstruck in April

This April, Georgetown will be one of a relatively small number of American communities in line to witness a rare natural spectacle.

The city will be on the path of the total eclipse, and as it will take place in the early afternoon, many people will be able to observe the event. Lasting for a little more than three minutes, it will offer a seldom-seen opportunity to view the sun’s corona before it disappears behind the shadow of the moon.

The city has put together a page on its website that offers additional information about how and why an eclipse happens and how to view one safely. It also offers a link for anyone who would like to order special glasses to wear to protect their eyes. Anyone who has an event planned in Georgetown that is related to the eclipse has been asked to submit it so that it can be added to the site, as this will keep the public up to date on what is on offer.

A special natural phenomenon like an eclipse event may attract a lot of attention. Stationery printers can prepare Postcards and other mailers to send out that provide the public with information and tips for enjoying it.

Georgetown will be treated to this stellar show on Monday, April 8, beginning at 1:36 pm. The city’s website offers further information.
