Georgetown sets date for intergalactic fun

Georgetown will be joining communities around the world when it offers the public a day filled with fun based on the Star Wars franchise.

Dubbed “May the Fourth be With You,” the gathering on offer in San Gabriel Park’s Legacy Pavilion will be running for two hours. It has been planned for all ages, and The Georgetown Public Library will be lending a hand with the festivities.

People can try out the Jedi training course, and there will also be mock lightsaber battles. The heroes in the crowd can destroy the Death Star, and there will be costumed characters circulating to meet attendees and pose for photos. The library will have a crafting area set up, and there will be other fun as well. This is all on offer free of charge.

The planners wish to extend their thanks to Subaru of Georgetown, which is its presenting sponsor. Organizers can order specially designed Corporate Gifts from a Print professional to present to the sponsors of a function to provide a tip of the hat for their support.

Georgetown has scheduled this Star Wars-themed celebration for Sunday, May 4, to coincide with Star Wars Day. It will kick off at 2:00 pm, and the festivities will continue on until 4:00 pm. Information for potential vendors and sponsors is available on the city’s website.
