Georgetown program to pay tribute to local heroes

A program that pays tribute to fallen military members, as well as veterans and those who are currently serving, is seeking support from the public in Georgetown. It will also honor first responders and other local heroes.

The Field of Honor initiative has set a goal of installing at least 1,600 American flags at San Gabriel Park, and the project is being undertaken by Georgetown Rotary Club. The group explained that the activity will be a real world example of its motto of “service above self,” and everyone can get involved.

Those who would like to support the program can purchase a flag to display, and they will each be dedicated to a vet, first responder or currently serving military member. They may also sponsor service animals. There is also an option for those who would prefer to pay tribute to someone who may have been overlooked, and this initiative has been dubbed “Adopt a Hero”. The public is encouraged to pay a visit to the site where the flags will be displayed.

Organizing a large annual function like this may not always be an easy task to undertake, but a printing services company will have an assortment of days to make the process go smoothly.

This year's Fields of Honor program is scheduled to be set up in Georgetown from November 6 to November 14.
