Georgetown goes on garden tour

The Sun City Garden Club in Georgetown is getting ready for the Eighth Annual Sun City Garden Tour. The event celebrates the thriving horticulture of the area, while also informing people of the best local gardening practices.

The tour winds through the famous yards in the Sun City Neighborhood, and then ends at the Horticultural Gardens. Attendees will receive a wristband that will allow them access inside many yards and gardens in the area, and will also give them access to some of the homeowners, who will share tips and tricks they use in their gardening. Visitors will get Brochures with maps printed on them to tell them which yards are available to visit.

In the Horticultural Gardens, guests will be treated to a tour through the many blooming plants that the spring has brought. This year, a special emphasis will be placed on learning more about low water use and native plants that will grow especially well in the Georgetown climate.

The visit wraps up with complimentary lemonade, cookies, and coffee, as well as a chat with local horticulturists. All proceeds from the event go towards supporting local gardening-based nonprofits.

The Eighth Annual Sun City Garden Tour will take place on May 15 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The tour will begin at the Sun City Activities Center, located at 1 Texas Dr. Wristbands cost $15 and can be purchased in advance. Anyone interested in attending should visit the website for more info.
