Alzheimer’s disease and dementia impact many people in Georgetown, but the good news is that there will soon be a way for the entire community to take aim at this group of illnesses.
Even COVID-19 will not be enough to keep the 11th annual Williamson County fundraising walk from hitting the pavement. It's been converted to a virtual format, and all of the monies raised will remain in the local area.
Everyone who registers for the event can choose to do so as an individual or part of a team, and to take part, all they need to do is have their Fit Bit record how many miles they walk or run. After this, they donate $20 per mile, and anyone who agreed to sponsor them will be asked to do the same.
The day will begin with a virtual opening ceremony, and after this, the registrants will begin their walk or run. Awareness raising Signs are available to purchase by the participants to place along the route they will follow, and those sorts of marketing materials can be prepared by area Print shops.
