Georgetown educators invited to take page from Mother Nature

The natural world can be a wonderful teacher, and a Georgetown event will give educators a variety of tools they can use to invite nature into their classroom.

Certified trainer Allison Gaskins will give those who work with preschool aged children in a classroom or other setting a variety of ways they can incorporate the sciences into their lesson plans using nature-based activities. It is intended to be a fun make-and-take session, and the participants will learn how they can use bugs, butterflies and blossoms to capture and hold their student’s interest.

During the session, the facilitator will teach the educators some new activities they can share with their class, and these can help the young learners improve their social, motor, and language skills. Sensory bins will be included, and each participant is asked to bring along a packet of construction paper in assorted colors as well as scissors, glue and a $1 fee that will help to cover the cost of supplies.

This event is being offered by Bridges to Growth Georgetown, and there is no fee to register. A printer’s graphic design department can help to bring the learning shared in this sort of session into the classroom by providing themed educational materials, including activity sheets, handouts, and even wall decor.

This opportunity for educators to add to their skill set will be offered on March 26. It will begin at 6:30 pm and continue until 8:30 pm.
