Annual festival to land soon in Georgetown

The 16th annual Red Poppy Festival is coming to Georgetown this April for three days.

The event is set to feature concerts from such acts as Dysfunkshun Junkshun, John Michael Montgomery, Kris Gordon, and Kirk Baxley.

There will be BMX Pro Truck Team shows, a parade, and 3v3 basketball for those in 5th grade and up. The 11th annual Bike Ride will raise funds for the Sertoma Scholarship, and there will also be a 5K run.

The Red Poppy Taste Awards will take place this year for the first time, and for a $10 fee, chefs can compete in two categories. Winners will receive a ribbon, which will be presented during the festival. In addition, arts and crafts and food vendors will in attendance, offering items for purchase.

There will also be a car show taking place on Austin Avenue on April 25 from 11:00am - 3:00pm. There are awards for the top 20 cars and for the ‘Best in Show’. Yesterday was the final day for the full repayment of fees, which were priced at $25.

Georgetown Print companies may be asked to provide the ribbons that will be presented in the Red Poppy Taste Awards.
