The bookstore will be moving into a big-box space previously occupied by Office Depot in Montgomery Plaza, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Banner printing services usually play a vital role in grand openings like this.
Despite the challenges posed by the growth of Amazon and other e-retailers, Barnes & Noble has regrouped and is making a strong comeback. In a statement to USA Today in December 2025, the company said:
“Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. In 2025, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019.”
The company’s turnaround since new owners took over in 2019 can be attributed to enabling individual locations to tailor their displays and shopping experiences to local markets rather than having to follow a one-size-fits-all mandates.
According to the filing, the anticipated $500,000 refurbishment will likely start in July and finish in late October.
The New York-based company has grown to 700 locations with plans to open an additional 60 locations across the U.S. this year.
