Nationwide accreditation awarded to Fort Worth Botanic Garden

One of the country’s highest museum honors has been received by the Fort Worth Botanic Garden making it one of a small elite group.

Botanic Garden’s accreditation was presented by the American Alliance of Museums and was announced recently by the city of Fort Worth noting it as “the highest national honor a museum can receive.” The nonprofit American Alliance sets the standards for museums and assists with resources and advocacy.

Only a little over 3 percent of the nation’s museums receives this rare honor and to celebrate the accomplishment, the public can enjoy a reduced rate for admission to the gardens throughout August. For this month only, admission tickets are buy-one-get-one-free when purchased on site. This special deal is not available online.

Banner printing services are called upon to provide signage inside as well as outside.

Commenting on the honor, Patrick Newman, the CEO of the Botanic Garden President, said:

“It tells our community, our partners and every visitor who walks through our gates that Fort Worth Botanic Garden meets the highest standards in our field.”

Recognized by the American Alliances of Museums as a “specialized museum”, the Botanic Garden is honored, according to the city, for its focus not only on the living plant collections it contains but also for its work on conservation and public education.

Fort Worth city officials explain that what qualified the Botanic Garden to seek accreditation is its association with the Botanical Research Institute of Texas.
