Fort Worth to organize trombone-themed festival

The Texas Christian University in Fort Worth will hold a convention for trombonists in May.

The International Trombone Festival is an event for trombone enthusiasts of all skill levels where they can interact with fellow musicians and hear performances from talented trombonists. Several talented solo artists will participate in the fest, including José Milton Viera, Hillary Simms, and Vincent Gardner. Attendees can also listen to ensembles like the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and John Wasson's Strata Big Band. The event is hosted by Dave Begnoche.

There will also be several activities held during the trombone festival. Young trombonists ages 12-17 can participate in a youth workshop at the conference where they can practice in ensembles that are appropriate to their skill levels. The faculty at the workshop will include Marcia Medrano, Marte Kennedy, and Carlito Chavez. Musicians can take part in many types of competitions at the event, such as jazz, classical, and ensemble.

The trombone festival will be held from Wednesday, May 29th to Sunday, June 2nd. Those who are members of the International Trombone Association can pay $460 for access to the full festival, and non-members may purchase all-access passes for $530. People can buy festival T-Shirts for $20. Companies that host similar music events may use printing services to create programs for their fests with schedules and sponsor information.
