The Tarrant Area Food Bank's Nutrition Services team plans to offer a free cooking class each month throughout 2019.
The first of a series of free classes open to residents age 18 and over begins in a couple of weeks. Seating is limited, so people are urged to sign up for the classes they want to join as soon as possible.
The workshops will include information about vegetable growing, nutrition and use. A professional chef will show several ways of preparing each vegetable highlighted in the class that month and everyone will have the chance to try the prepared food. All participants will bring home new recipes from each class, and Print shops could help them share the ideas with friends and family.
The January class will discuss broccoli. The chef will discuss its flavor profile, unique varieties and other information about the vegetable. Anyone that wants to learn how to make the most of the products they grow in a home or community garden, or that wants to discover new methods of preparation, will no doubt find the lessons informative.
The upcoming class of the TAFB Kitchen Garden Cooking School is on January 16 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. The classes are held at the Tarrant Area Food Bank Demonstration Kitchen at 2525 Cullen Street in Fort Worth. A free space can be reserved via Eventbrite.
