Van Gogh painting exhibit scheduled in Dallas next year

A partnership has been formed by the Dallas Museum of Art and Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum to create an exhibition dedicated to the olive grove series painted by Vincent van Gogh, and the exhibit will visit Dallas in 2021.

The exhibit, “Van Gogh and the Olive Groves”, brings together the artist’s paintings featuring olive groves as the subject. The series was painted during Van Gogh’s year-long stay at the Saint-Rémy-de-Provence asylum in late 1889.

The exhibit will first appear in Amsterdam, the Netherlands at the Van Gogh Museum next year June to September. The Dallas Museum of Art will host the exhibit here from October 17th, 2021 through February 6th, 2022.

Printing services are often engaged by museums to produce Postcards and other facsimiles of items in a special exhibit for purchase by visitors.

Van Gogh Museum Director Emilie Gordenker commented in a recent release:

"This unique opportunity to study a complete series of paintings and dedicate a focused exhibition to it is immensely valuable for our knowledge on the artist’s oeuvre, and we are delighted to collaborate with the DMA on this important project.”

The series of 15 paintings will provide insight into the artist’s materials, techniques and palette, as well as explore his propensity to create painting series on specific subjects.
