On the list of cities with the most residents working past retirement age, Dallas has landed the No. 3 spot, according to ChamberofCommerce.org, a business website.
The employment study, titled “Cities with the Most Working Seniors”, reveals that almost a third of Dallas residents 65 years of age and over are still employed. Only Alexandria, Virginia and Tallahassee, Florida have more employed senior citizens, with 36.8% and 30.9% respectively. Other Texas cities that placed high on the list were Plano at No. 6, Arlington at No. 11 and Frisco at No. 17. Dallas’s sister city, Fort Worth, took the No. 31 spot on the list.

According to the report $47,826 is the median household income for Dallas senior citizens which points to increased cost of living along with personal extenuating circumstances contributing to the “unretiring” trend among seniors in the Dallas-Fort Worth workforce.
The digital site ChamberofCommerce.org supports entrepreneurs and small business owners. The site use data gleaned from the country’s 170 most populous cities in compiling their “Cities with the Most Working Seniors” study.
