Study ranks Dallas among geekiest cities in U.S.

Lawn care service Lawn Love compiled a list of the geekiest cities in the country in recognition of Embrace Your Geekness Day on July 13th, and Dallas was pretty high on the list.

Weighting factors such as number of meetup groups, costume shops, and video game and comic book shops, Lawn Love ranked the United States’ 200 largest cities according to the level of their geekiness.

Flyer printing services provide a way to bring together like minded individual to form clubs or other groups.

Dallas ranked 21st overall, coming in 10th for geeky events, 11th for costume access and 14th in the “community” category. One might think with numbers like that the Big D would have ranked higher, but the city scored low in the “access to collectibles” category, placing 69th.

So far as the Lone Star State is concerned Dallas is the fourth geekiest city, with San Antonio coming at No.5 nationwide. Houston scored 6th with Austin following closely in the No.9 spot.

Dallas’s sister city Fort Worth came in at a distant 48th place. For those wondering how Fort Worth could be so far behind on the geekiness scale, it appears that it ties with five other cities for the “fewest geek meetup groups,” possibly suggesting that Fort Worth geeks have been traveling to Dallas to meet up.
