An annual report identifying the country’s best medical facilities has recently been released and Dallas-Fort Worth hospitals were ranked based on several factors.
For the annual 31st best hospital rankings from U.S. News & World Report, Dallas-Fort Worth hospitals were judged on the following criteria: patient safety, patient care, nursing, outcomes, advanced technology and reputation. Included in the report were adult and children’s hospitals.
Medical facilities were ranked on the national, state and local level. More than 4,500 medical centers were evaluated nationwide across 16 specialties; 134 hospitals ranked in a minimum of one specialty.
Dallas’ UT Southwestern Medical Center is top ranking hospital in the DFW metroplex and is the Lone Star State’s No.2 hospital. The hospital also has the distinction of being among top hospitals in the country in 10 adult specialties.
Even hospitals have to advertise and they frequently turn to a banner printing service to publicize any honors they may have received.
The Metroplex’ No.2 hospital, Baylor University Medical Center, is ranked No. 4 in Texas. The facility was also recognized on the national level in a couple of adult specialties: gynecology – 24th, and gastroenterology and GI surgery – 36th.
Parkland Health and Hospital System – Dallas is No.3 in the DFW area and No.6 in the state; Fort Worth’s Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest holds the No. 4 spot locally and No.10 statewide.
According to the report, the highest-ranking Hospital in Texas is Houston Methodist.
