Premier Dallas park to receive 1.5M grant
One of Dallas’s most popular parks, Crawford Memorial Park, will receive a state grant of 1.5 million to be used to fund a comprehensive improvement project.
Earlier this month, the Dallas Park and Recreation Board agreed to accept the Urban Recreation Grant offered by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The grant will be used to make improvements to the park that have been part of the city’s agenda since 2018 or earlier.
Crawford Park carries the designation of “signature park” – a regional landmark and attraction in the Dallas Park System. Planned improvements include an exercise complex, inclusive playground, restrooms, shaded picnic sites, signage and outdoor furnishings, all connected to existing pathways by a 12-foot-wide hard-surface trail with two pedestrian bridges, one spanning Elam Road.
High-quality printing services are important to ensure signage reflects the quality of the establishment.
Located in southeast Dallas, Crawford Memorial Park was established in 1964 and contains athletic fields, courts, paved trails, gardens and a playground within its 266.2 acres. Part of Dallas’ trails system, it contains a diverse array of environment characteristics that include Post Oak Savannah - approximately 49 acres, Black Land Prairie – about 27 acres and 1.4 miles of Prairie Creek frontage and an Auston chalk escarpment area that includes exposed outcroppings.
The project’s total budget is $7,632,933, which will be paid for with funds from the 2017 bond program along with the recent grant from the state. Design and construction will be overseen by Dallas Park and Recreation.
