Over 1,000 new jobs coming to the Dallas area

United Parcel Service (UPS) is opening a distribution center in Arlington that is expected to add over 1,000 jobs to the Dallas area job market.

The package shipping company’s huge new warehouse is being built by the Exeter Property Group south of Interstate 20 at 2320 E. Bardin Road. The warehouse will constitute the fifth phase of the Arlington Commerce Center.

The new Arlington location joins the North Fort Worth and Mesquite major distribution centers, as well as the one at the DFW International Airport. UPS has assured Arlington officials that ultimately 1,400 workers will be employed at the new facility.

The growth of ecommerce, in North Texas especially the added volume during the holiday seasons, is responsible for the creation of the new hub. The UPS shield will not be the only Logo Design becoming more prevalent in the Dallas area, as other shipping firms are adding capacity to their distribution operations as well.

Negotiations between the city of Arlington and UPS have recently created an agreement, whereby UPS would create a minimum of 500 full-time positions as well as 600 part-time jobs by the close of 2019. In return, UPS would receive economic incentives, which could include grants or a tax abatement.

The agreement would provide the equivalent of 800 full-time positions, although UPS anticipates bringing in the equivalent of as many as 1,400 full-time jobs.
