Founded by Sara Saginaw, Swirled Peace will occupy a Craftsman house at 309 W. 8th Street that was formerly used as an art gallery. The shop will offer basic chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla, along with a rotating series of flavors. A variety of plant-based toppings will also be available, including vegan versions of Twix and Snickers toppings.

Talking to CultureMap Dallas, Saginaw explained her motivation:
"I've always had a burning desire to have an ice cream shop or bakery. I went to medical school, but I almost went to culinary school instead. I love the idea of doing something plant-based, that's healthier and better for the planet."
The six flavors of oat milk-based soft-service ice cream will be made in house. As with other self-serve frozen yogurt shops, patrons will grab a cup, select their soft-serve, and then choose from the various candies, nuts, fruits, and brownies, all of which will be vegan friendly. Also on hand will be coffee and cappuccinos, as well as adult milkshakes infused with THC-Delta 9 and ceremonial cacao. A natural, minimally processed foodstuff, ceremonial cacao contains high levels of theobromine and is purported to have health benefits.
Swirled Peace will open in the early summer. Customers will be able to choose from tables inside or set up in the large backyard.
