A recent announcement revealed that Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is anticipating the opening of a new shop – one with a non-profit connection.
The Bridge News and Convenience is to be an airport concession that will fund services, create jobs, and assist local homelessness non-profits through the sale of souvenirs and other items to those passing through the airport. The store represents a joint venture of Upspire (which is Fort Worth’s Presbyterian Night Shelter) and Dallas’s Bridge Homeless Recovery Center with Gideon Toal Management and R.S. Harris LLC.
Merchandise at DFW’s new 800-square-foot storefront will include grab and go snacks, personal care items, travel and souvenir items, and local memorabilia.
Many businesses use the opportunity of a purchase to include a promotional leaflet provided by a flyer printing service to either advertise a sale or detail its support of a non-profit.
It is anticipated that The Bridge will garner around $200,000 via the 5%revenue to be shared by the two non-profits during their seven-year contract. Additionally, using The Bridge brand will generate funds through a licensing fee.
Staff for the store will be provided by Upspire via its workforce program that assists individuals experiencing employment barriers.
Expected to open in Spring 2023, David Woody III, Bridge president and CEO, said the DFW store has been in the works for almost two years.
