New vintage shop coming to Deep Ellum

Thrifted Threads, a Houston-based clothing store, has announced it will open a location in Deep Ellum on Main Street.

In 2017, Laith Awad began reselling clothes online before opening a brick-and-mortar version of Thrifted Threads in Houston’s Montrose District in 2022. He then opened a second store in 2023 in College Station. Billing itself as “not your average thrift shop” and claiming to have the world’s largest collection of fashionable second-hand clothes, Awad says he is on a mission to save the planet through the repurposing of affordable, unique fashion.

Residents and visitors to Deep Ellum have already showed an affinity for vintage clothes with two vendors, Add Vintage Now and 2nd Street already thriving in the area.

Using a flyer printing service can greatly enhance a new business’s opening.

The Houston Thrifted Threads stock includes letter jackets, ball caps, T-Shirts, sunglasses and jeans. The décor includes cozy leather couches, a bicycle wheel sculpture, car chassis suspended from the ceiling, and motorcycles, one of which includes a skeleton rider.

The 2,500 square-foot Dallas branch of Thrifted Threads will offer a free arcade and ice cream with a motorcycle on the sales floor and an “urban punk” décor that features graffiti-painted surfaces. Patrons can expect to find icon designs from the 1970s up to the 2000s all arranged by color.

The Deep Ellum Thrifted Threads shop is slated to open in August 2024.
