The Bishops Arts District of Dallas a will host a thirst-quenching competition among several restaurants and bars in the city and surrounding area.
In all, more than 30 establishments will prepare their finest margaritas to determine which one will be crowned the Margarita champ. The public is invited to lend a hand, or their taste buds, and cast their vote to determine the winner.
The bartenders, from 32 establishments, will be competing for a prize of $1,000 in cash. The participating bars and restaurants have used various means to promote this event, including the use of flyer printing services to advertise happy hour tie-ins throughout the month of May.
Tickets are $30 if purchased at the event or $25 online in advance. Part of the money raised goes to benefit La Voz del Anciano (Voice of the Elderly), an area non-profit dedicated to helping local elderly people of Latino origin. Over the last three years, more than 15,000 people have participated in Margarita Meltdowns in San Antonio, Dallas and Ft Worth.
The Margarita Meltdown takes place on Sunday, May 25. The event starts at 5:00 pm with voting taking place via text messaging until 8:00 pm. The winners will be announced at 9:00 pm. In addition to margaritas, attendees will be able to purchase food and beer up until 10 pm.
