October 31 saw an announcement on the popular Harry Potter site The-Leaky-Cauldron.org that The Hyatt Regency of Dallas will host LeakyCon 2018 next August.
Last year’s LeakyCon, held in Dublin, Ireland, has been described as a magical experience by those who attended, with panels featuring in-depth discussions about the films and Books with faces recognizable from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts movies. The event was recently included in a documentary on BBC Two titled ‘Harry Potter: A History of Magic!’
Since its inception in 2009, fans of the world created by J.K. Rowling have gathered by the tens of thousands to celebrate and delve into the life and mystic of ‘The Boy Who Lived’. In cities across the U.S., Harry Potter fans of all ages have enjoyed a fun, energetic, and safe environment to gather with like-minded individuals.
It is likely that leading up to LeakyCon, a number of libraries in the Dallas area will seize the opportunity and have Flyers printed to announce their own Harry Potter events to revive interest in the Books and encourage reading.
Mischief Management, which produces LeakyCon, revealed that the 2018 LeakyCon would take place the weekend of August 10-12. Additionally it was announced that tickets would become available on November 15, at 2:00 pm ET at LeakyCon.com.
