Dallas County has received a multimillion-dollar grant to assist with the extra expenses this November 3 will bring.
The 2020 election is promising to be especially taxing, between this being a presidential election year and the difficulties associated with COVID-19. With this in mind, a nonprofit, the Center for Tech and Civic Life, provided $15,130,433 to the county to assist with the cost of additional staffing and other resources needed for the upcoming election. The possible increase in mail-in ballots, as well as the need for social distancing and disinfecting at polling places, has increased the cost of the 2020 election to an even higher level than what is expected of a presidential election.
Dallas County will use the money to precure additional mail ballot sorting equipment and voting machines, as well as hire additional election workers and supply sufficient personal protectiuve equipment (PPE) for voters and poll-workers. The funds will also help with opening and operating additional voting locations both for early and election day voting, as well as voting equipment sanitization.
Banner printing services are an effective way to catch the public’s eye and show that they have arrived at their location.
Several additional factors have added a degree of difficulty this year for the Dallas County Elections Department, among which are the elimination of straight-ticket voting and this year's particularly long ballots, due to a mix of ISD and municipal races and measures.
