DFW to soon have self-driving ride-hail service

Cruise, a driverless, all-electric car company, is bringing its Uber-like service to Dallas and Houston in the near future.

The GM-backed company launched operations in the Lone Star State in 2022 in Austin. Like Uber, those who need a ride can order a Cruise vehicle to their location via an app, with the only difference being the responding vehicle will lack a driver.

Flyer printing services often assist in the introduction of new businesses to a community.

Built and operated by Cruise, the driverless vehicles have a 360-degree view, giving them the ability to react to any eventuality on the road. According to Kyle Vogt, the CEO of Cruise, the cars come to a full stop at every stop sign and always follow the speed limit. Moreover, the Cruise cars respond appropriately to sirens and flashing lights on fire trucks, police cars, and ambulances. They also recognize school bus fold-out stop Signs.

For each new city, the company hires a team to carry out the mapping and data collection concerning school zones, bike lanes, and major intersections. They then begin supervised driving, meaning a safety driver is behind the wheel to take over if needed, while their AI is finetuned to the nuances of the new city.

The Cruise fleet of all-electric AVs number 300 and are 100% powered by renewable energy. They operate in San Francisco, Phoenix and Austin and will soon begin operating in Houston before starting up in Dallas.
