Proponents believe these deck parks, which will be over Interstate 30, will transform the city’s southern half. CEO of Inspire Dallas, Carlos Aguilar said, according to the Dallas Daily News:
“These deck caps are more than just infrastructure. They are the embodiments of the project’s theme that is connecting communities.”
In a memo issued by city officials, areas on Lamar Street and in proximity to Old City Park locations have been chosen for the construction of deck parks. One example is Klyde Warren Park filling in the gap between southern Dallas and downtown Dallas.
Among the services Print shops provide is making printed Copies of artists’ rendering, architectural drawings, and Blueprints detailing planned-for city changes.
Grants in the amount of $31m had already been awarded by the federal government to put towards the Old City Park deck park. More specifically, it will be used to put caps and abutments over portions of the highway for the construction of deck parks. These parks are for the purpose of reconnecting, among others, the Downtown Historic District, Heritage Park, and residential neighborhoods in southern Dallas that decades ago were separated by freeway construction.
An additional benefit, pointed out by council member Jesse Moreno, was that deck parks provide green space that will combat some of the “heat island” effect of concrete within the city.
