What's Happening in Dallas, TX…

Dallas new location for Jacobs Engineering Group HQ

Plans are underway for the relocation to Dallas of Jacobs Engineering Group’s international headquarters.

Currently headquartered in Pasadena, California, Jacobs, which provides primary process industries with maintenance fabrication and construction technology, will be moving its base of operation here. The Fortune 500 Company expects to provide downtown Dallas with $4m in capital investment and bring over 100 new jobs to add to the nearly 4,500 Texas workers already employed by the company.

Jacobs is not new to Dallas; the company has been a part of the business community here since 1987, but the company letterheads will all need to be updated to show the company’s new base of operations. At present, it occupies 80,000 square feet in downtown Dallas’s Harwood Center. To accommodate the company’s headquarter relocation, Jacobs will increase its footprint to 100,000.

Governor Greg Abbott issued a press release regarding the Jacobs Engineering Group’s move to Dallas, in which he said:

“Texas is already home to more than 50 Fortune 500 companies, and I am proud to announce today it will be home to one more. Because of our robust economic environment, more businesses are choosing to call Texas home.”

To assist Jacobs in its move to Dallas, the Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) provided a grant of $1.3m. First established in 2003, and periodically replenished by the Legislature, the TEF fund is utilized when a single Texas site is vying with an out-of-state competitor.
