Dallas was one of two Texas cities to be included in Forbes’ best cities for retirees list recently.
Among the top 25 cities to retire to for 2020, according to Forbes, are the Texas cities of Dallas and San Antonio. The cities are listed in alphabetical order and are not ranked as No.1 through No.25. Also, only cities with populations of 10,000 or more were compared.
Dallas was praised by the magazine for its relatively low cost of living, its satisfactory number of physicians per capita, having no state or inheritance tax, and its median home price, which is 21 percent less than the national average. Other factors named in the city’s favor were its good climate, laudable air quality, a bike- and pedestrian-friendly environment, and a low risk of adverse climate change conditions.
Retirement communities are always eager to send information from lists such as this one to brochure printing services.
This year’s list is missing the many small college towns that are usually scattered throughout it, as an adjustment was made to reflect the current COVID-19 economy. Also, climate change was introduced for the first time in the 10-year history of the list. Encouragingly for what is a topic of increasing concern, both Texas cities on the list ranked well in the climate change category.
