Dallas among popular U.S. relocation destination

According to moving app Updater, three Texas cities are in its top 15 locations for relocation in the U.S., including Dallas.

Citizens on the move have increasing been choosing Texas as their new home, particularly Austin, Houston, and Dallas. Among relocation destinations, this trio of Lone Star cities are all in this year’s top 15.

The top 15 cities likely include their Updater standings with other promotional materials they send to Print shops.

According to Updater the No. 15 slot belongs to Austin, the No. 7 place is occupied by Houston and Dallas was No. 2, only coming behind Washington D.C. Following behind Washington D.C. and Dallas, the rest of the top five are Atlanta, New York City and Los Angeles.

Dallas and Houston have held on to their rankings from 2017 in 2018; however, Austin dropped to No. 15 from last year’s No. 6 position. Boston, Philadelphia and Orlando, formally in the top 15, did not make the cut this year.

Markets such as Seattle and San Francisco, like so many other urban areas have a shortage of homes for sale, which in turn increases prices making it difficult for first-time homebuyers to come up with a down payment. This has led to a trend of Americans returning to major suburbs of cities such as the ones on the Updater list.

Ranking on Updater were arrived at by using the relocation data January through August for two million households.
