The innovative solution to pandemic dining, rooftop “bubble bars” are again going to delight winter diners at two Dallas hotels.
Rooftop igloo bars became a craze in Dallas in 2019 as a way for hotel restaurants to increase winter dining choices, it grew in popularity during 2020 as a way to provide COVID-protected dining options. Now it looks like they may be here to stay, at least in cold weather.
Like plastic caves, the “bubbles” are frequently shaped like geodesic domes and enable patrons to enjoy rooftop dining protected from the elements in a modified al fresco manner.
Seasonal attractions can be effectively marketed using a poster printing service.
The Statler Dallas hotel’s 19th floor rooftop bar in downtown Dallas founded the city’s first rooftop igloo bar in 2019 and its 2021 return, called “Winterproof”, will offer a ski lodge theme with “ski bunny” waitresses and “ski instructor” bartenders. The igloos are referred to as “snow clouds” with the one labeled Cloud 19 being the largest. Installation is scheduled for the first week in December.
The Adolphus hotel, also in downtown Dallas, have created a winter wonderland on their rooftop with eight illuminated igloos and cozy cabins. As part of a larger annual holiday celebration, the rooftop poolside cabanas have been transformed into cabins with miniature hearths. The miniature curling rink returned in time for the mid-November debut of the igloos, which will remain available through January 30.
