As part of a recently released 40-page Community Safety Plan, several Deep Ellum nightlife venues will utilize technology to spot potentially disruptive patrons prior to their entry into these sites. This latest safety plan is nicknamed “2.0”; the first version was adopted in 2022 and resulted in a drop in violent crime during each of the next three consecutive years in Deep Ellum.
Local printing services can ensure continuity and enhance a business’s brand by providing all of its interior and exterior signage.
The managing partner of Madison Partners, Jon Hetzel, explained the goal of the new safety plan as striving to balance a flourishing nightlife with safety and accountability. He elaborated saying:
“We’re working on a neighborhood-wide late-night effort around ID scanners that can flag customers that are causing fights in bars, so the other venues know about them, and we’re starting to roll that out ahead of the World Cup.”
The updated safety plan was derived after month of meetings among business and property owners, Dallas police, city officials, and the Deep Ellum Foundation. Much of the recent drive to improve safety in the entertainment district is connected to the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup in Dallas.
