It has been reported by WFAA that the edomae sushi restaurant Tatsu Dallas will be expanding into Deep Ellum.
The original, restaurant Tatsu Dallas, recently achieved a one Michelin star rating in November of 2024. Its new sister restaurant, to be named Kappo Tatsu, which when translated from Japanese to English means ‘to cut and cook’. According to the co-founder Matthew Ciccone, will be located at the former location of Tina’s Continental in the Continental Gin Building at 3309 Elm Street.
Menus and signage are just the beginning of the many custom items a local, professional Print shops can provide.
Diners may be surprised when the new restaurant opens because, unlike its sister restaurant the main focus will not be on fish. Rather than an omakase menu, Kappo Tatsu will offer a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner, known as kaiseki, the characteristics of which include attractively presented carefully crafted bites reflecting the best seasonal ingredients. Additionally, a selection of craft sake will be available at the new restaurant.
Surprisingly, guests at Kappo Tatsu will enjoy a more nourishing and affordable menu, despite the fact that Kaiseki dinners are usually more expensive and are considered Japan’s version of haute cuisine.
The new Deep Ellum restaurant, Kappo Tatsu is anticipated to open in either the fall or winter of this year. Menu details including the prices and the exact opening date have not yet been made available.
