Noise task force suggests tiered approach in Deep Ellum

A noise task force has come up with a compromise that should suit both the Deep Ellum entertainment industry and residents looking for peace and quiet.

A noise task force has come up with the idea of dividing the Dallas suburb into three tiers, each with its own acceptable level of noise. Flyer printing services can be invaluable when it comes to informing the public of moves like this.

In April 2021, some businesses and residents began complaining about non-enforcement of existing noise ordinances. In turn, Deep Ellum venues came together to prevent any infringement on their right to be noisy. As a result, a Deep Ellum Noise Task Force was formed in July 2021.

After five months doing research which included talking with business owners and decibel readings being taken, the task force recently issued their report. They recommended a three-tiered system of allowable noise.

At the heart of Deep Ellum would be Tier 1, where the highest level of noise would be permitted. Until midnight during the week and on the weekends until 2:00 am, 92 decibels of noise would be allowable.

An entertainment and commercial corridor would comprise Tier 2 where a limit of 78 decibels would acceptable during the week up until 10:00 pm, extending until midnight on weekends. Tier 3 would be made up of the Deep Ellum Cultural District that would align with the regular allowable Dallas noise levels.
