Earth and health events come together this month

This year, when the Texas Veggie Fair comes to Reverchon Park here in Dallas, it will do so in partnership with 2014: Earth Day Texas.

The celebration of vegetables focuses on the benefits to the individual, as well as to the planet, that a plant-based diet provides, but expands into other areas that overlap with the Earth Day agenda. Other matters touched upon will include animal welfare, vegetarian cuisine, the differences between vegetarianism and veganism, and green living in general.

Among the attractions this year will be a variety of vegan foods, chef demos, a beer garden, product vendors, and kids’ activities. Information on a subjects touching on environmental consciousness, vegetables, and related products will be available from guest speakers, as will printed information. Brochure printers are usually heavily utilized in events such as this one.

The partnership between the state’s celebration of all things veggie and its Earth Day celebration, which takes place next year on April 25 and 26, is a natural one. Michael Cain, executive director of Earth Day Texas to CultureMapDallas, explained:

“Earth Day Texas and Texas Veggie Fair share a common mission — to educate people about the importance of being environmentally conscious in their everyday lives."

The Texas Veggie Fair 2014 will take place on Sunday, October 19, and is free to attend
