Deep Ellum named a cultural district

The Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) has recently announced that it has designated five new official state cultural districts and that among them is the Dallas neighborhood of Deep Ellum.

With the addition of these latest five, the Lone Star State’s total number of cultural districts has risen to 48. In addition to Deep Ellum, the latest additions to the list are the Red River Cultural District of Austin, and Fort Worth’s Near Southside Arts District, as well as two districts in Houston: The Tre (Third Ward Cultural District) and the Fifth Ward Cultural Arts District.

Only the Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) can provide the official designation for these districts which it defines as being zones that:

"…harness the power of cultural resources to stimulate economic development and community revitalization."

Neighborhoods must navigate a laborious application and approval process to earn the distinction of being labeled a focal point for stimulating cultural development, enticing tourists, and engendering business.

Once they have made the cut and can officially call themselves an official Texas Cultural District, the new additions to the group will want to market themselves as such. Banner printing services are adept at spreading news to large numbers of people over a considerable span of time.

An official proclamation will be made once in-person gatherings are deemed to once again be safe at each new cultural district’s hosted event.
