Dallas gains inaugural spot on top vegan cities list

Among the many lists that Dallas has landed upon over the years, the U.S. Top 10 Vegan-Friendly Cities list for 2019 is quite the surprise.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) compiles a list of vegan-friendly U.S. cities every year. For the first time ever, Dallas has made the cut, and Eric Johnson, Dallas’s mayor, has a framed certificate from the organization to prove it.

Recently, when the organization released its list for 2019, Dallas came in at the No. 7 spot. Making the list is due in large part to the abundance of vegan variations on the archetypal Texan and Latin American dishes found here.

With news of Dallas’s inclusion on the list, printing services may be asked by restaurants to change Menus or advertisements to put greater emphasis on their vegan selections.

The Vice-president of PETA, Tracy Reiman revealed in a statement, what Dallas vegans already knew, that the demand and availability of vegan fare has exploded over the last few years. Besides the addition of vegan restaurants to the local culinary landscape, many restaurants with food coveted by avid meat eaters have added vegan selections to their Menus, or even created a menu specifically for those who avoid eating meat and dairy.

San Francisco received the No. 1 position on the 2019 list.
