DART, the Dallas Area Rapid Transit, has announced that at the Cityplace/Uptown Station the refurbishing or replacement of six escalators and a couple of elevators will take place within the next three years.
The Cityplace/Uptown station, located at US-75 and Haskell Avenue, is an M-Line Trolley transfer point as well as an Orange Line, Blue Line and Red Line stop. The planned-for work is not expected to disrupt train service in any way, although minor inconveniences may be experienced by riders. ADA accommodations will be provided as needed.
Ongoing communication between organizations and their stakeholders can often be facilitated by using flyer printing services.
The station in question is a “tri-level” one separated by escalators connecting ground level to boarding platforms 120 feet beneath US-75. The station contains three pairs of escalators and the refurbishing – the replacement project will take no more than a single escalator out of commission to ensure a minimum of disruption to services.
Operating in pairs, while one escalator is being repaired or replaced its “other half” will be used for upward movement. Two inclined elevators are available for use in traveling between platforms along with a 213-step staircase.
The Cityplace/Uptown station is the DART rail system’s sole underground station as well as being the only one in the state. Excavation for the 3.5-mile tunnel that extends from the city’s downtown to SMU/Mockingbird station began in 1991 and was completed in 2000. DART is anticipating completion of this project in 2028.
