To help manage the safety and transportation needs of the tens of thousands of 2026 FIFA World Cup fans expected to flood into the Dallas-Fort Worth area this summer, the federal government is providing over $61m.
The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTOG) is to be the recipient of the funds, and is charged with managing and distributing them to support security, safety, operations, and transportation for the event and its attendees. The $61m will be divvied up with $51.5m to be distributed across the North Texas region as a grant program to be administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency to bolster security preparations before the tournament.
Banner printing is one of the many services that local Print shops provide for special events like the World Cup.
This leaves $10.03m to go towards enhancing the region’s public transportation as part of the Federal Transit Administration’s investment of $100.3 million to support public transit system for U.S. host cities. More specifically, this amount will be used to support improved access to fan events and venues and expand transportation services to accommodate the anticipated increased ridership.
In addition to the official FIFA Fan Festival being hosted by Dallas at Fair Park, AT&T Stadium in Arlington will be the location of nine matches during the World Cup, one of which is a semifinal. Plus, the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center will be the hub for International Broadcast Center tournament coordination.
