In the Knox Street District of Dallas, On The Border, which has been a fixture for 37 years, is closing its doors only to reopen at a later date, as a to-go, delivery, and catering kitchen.
A press release issued by CEO Matt Hood announced that On The Border, true to its established style, will hold a two-day fiesta, featuring $1.82 margarita’s. The price is a “tip of the hat” to the year the restaurant was founded, 1982.
The Knox location is one of more than 150 restaurants in the chain, which are spread across 31 states and have locations in Asia. The site will be converted to create more retail and residential space.
The Knox District's business and real estate community has experienced a significant shake up recently. In addition to the upcoming changes at On The Border, there are the new arrivals – Parachute (a home store) and Kiva Pilates, as well as the district’s new 12-story Weir Plaza, a mixed use development. Banner printing is commonly employed when a new business first opens its door.
The restaurant will extend happy hour specials for its final weekend August 3-4, as well as offering grande house margaritas priced at $1.82.
On The Border will not be opening on August 5 and its new to-go, delivery and catering kitchen is anticipated to open in late summer or early fall.
