Longhorn Ballroom renovation to be finished in spring

The Longhorn Ballroom, a historic Dallas music venue, is currently being renovated and will, according to Kessler Presents, be open sometime this spring.

Edwin Cabaniss, who is leading the team to restore the Longhorn Ballroom, was also in charge of the restoration of Houston’s The Heights Theater and the Kessler Theater in Oak Cliff. Cabaniss hopes via the restoration to share the theater’s history and the contribution it has made to music through the many musical artists to have performed there.

Venues opening for the first time, or following renovations, represent occasions that frequently prompt the use of banner printing services.

Performances here ran the gamut from Tex Ritter to The Sex Pistols, in addition to well-known names such as Ray Charles, Patsy Cline, Nat King Cole, George Jones, Little Richards, Selena and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Cabaniss explained that artist programming for the 2,000 plus capacity theater provides a means for Kessler Presents to continue to promote the Dallas market’s touring artists.

When the venue reopens, it will have museum-style display cases featuring guitars, clothing, and mementos from many of the famous performers who have performed here over the years. Included will be James Brown’s robe, a dress worn here by Loretta Lynn, and an assortment of guitars owned by BB King, Waylon Jennings, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and others.

The Longhorn Ballroom is in the Cedars neighborhood at 216 Corinth Street.
