Within a five-year period, the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex has seen a laudable 60% increase in jobs with a six-figure salary, a recent study reveals.
Stessa, a property management software provider for landlords, conducted a study ranking cities according to their increase in six-figure jobs, as well as the percentage of current jobs that fall into that category. The figures analysed were for the period from 2015 to 2020.

DFW’s 60% increase in these salaries gives it a ranking of 26th among major metros in the United States. Also, according to the study, 8.5% of DFW workers, which amounts to 306,240 people, are earning a six-figure salary. The median annual wage for the area is $42,710.
In Texas, just two metro areas ranked higher than DFW. San Antonio’s six-figure job growth between 2015 to 2020 was an impressive 163%, earning the city the No. 7 spot in the study, while Austin came in at No.15 with a 101.1% growth.
Last year in the Austin metro area 7.6% jobs paid at least $100,000 per year, while San Antonio had 5.7% of its workforce earning 100,000 per year. Houston had the highest percent of six-figure jobs among the state’s four major metro areas with 8.8%.
Among U.S. major metro areas, Nashville had the highest five-year six-figure job growth with a whopping 270.9%.
