Dallas museum celebrates lunar landing

A celebration of space exploration in general, and the first manned moon landing in particular, will be hosted by the Frontiers of Flight Museum in conjunction with the National Space Society of North Texas later this month.

A free “Lunar Sample Bag” will be presented to the first 250 children at what promises to be an ideal multi-generational event. Older family members can reminisce about the race to the Moon and share their memories with children and grandchildren. A variety of family-oriented activities and demonstrations will be available.

All attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy three portable planetariums, each with its own program and view of the night sky. Moreover, 25 exhibitors will be on hand featuring mesmerizing displays and fascinating activities, such as robotics demonstrations, recreation of Moon craters, and close-up views of meteorites.

For an additional fee of $25, budding young rocket scientists can participate in a model rocket-building class sponsored by the Dallas Area Rocket Society. The fee covers materials, a Dallas Area Rocket Society one-year membership, and a chance to launch a rocket at a launch event supervised by the Dallas Area Rocket Society.

Museums often utilize brochure printers to inform the public of special exhibits and events such as this one. The celebration of the 45th anniversary of the moon landing will be held this year on July 19, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
