Dallas ISD on its way to getting greener

The Dallas Independent School District (ISD) has recently received news that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will be providing $7.6m to provide cleaner rides to school for students.

The EPA is awarding over $51m as part of its 2022 Clean School Bus Program rebate competition to Texas school districts. A total of $965m is to be spread across school districts throughout the country.

Dallas ISD will use its $7.6m for the purchase of 25 electric school buses. In a news release, Dallas public school graduate, Congressman Colin Allred said he rode the bus as a boy and understood how vital school bus service was to the public. He stated:

"I was glad to join the EPA this summer in urging our schools to apply for this funding and I am proud that Dallas ISD will receive 25 clean, pollution-free electric school buses.”

Flyer printing services can help keep voters informed about the source and destination of funding.

What comes next is for the DISD to submit purchase orders with payment request Forms showing the new buses and any eligible infrastructure has been ordered.

In total, 13 school districts in Texas are to receive the funding, with the state’s largest district, Houston ISD, being awarded around $6.2m. The largest amounts went to Socorro ISD and Killeen ISD, receiving about $9.9m each.

Another $1bn to fund clean school buses is intended to be granted by the EPA in Fiscal Year 2023.
