The magazine Site Selection recently released a report concerning where businesses chose to put down roots in 2019, and several Texas metro areas were listed among the top 10, including Dallas-Fort Worth.
Although Dallas-Fort Worth had to give up its No. 2 spot to Houston, it did not fall far. DFW came in at No. 3, with a third Lone Star State metro area, Austin, taking the No. 6 position.
Metro areas had to have at least a million residents to be considered for a place on the list. To qualify as a relocation or expansion, a project had to create a minimum of 20 new positions, an investment of at least $1m or encompass 20,000 square feet or more of new space.
The criteria were met by 261 projects in Dallas-Fort Worth in 2019, but was edged out by Houston with 276. Austin lagged behind with 95 projects but still garnered sixth place. The top spot in the nation for relocation was Chicago with 416 projects.
The appearance of new logo designs and Banners proclaiming the building of new offices and factories across a city’s landscape further encourages investment.
Three metro areas in the same state making it into the top 10 was enough to earn Texas the Governor’s Cup Award for the eighth year running. The award was accepted by Governor Greg Abbott, who declared his state as having “the most dynamic economy in the nation”.
