Video game legend celebrated in Allen

April is shaping up to be a fine time for children to celebrate the world-famous Nintendo video game character Mario through multiple events this April.

The forthcoming PG-rated film The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is coming to theaters on April 1, with multiple matinee and evening screenings at the Cinemark Allen 16 and XD. Formats include standard screenings, 3D, and XD. The theater is located at 921 SH 121 in Allen.

Coinciding with this release is an event that weekend at the Allen Public Library. A Super Mario Galaxy Party is being held for children aged five and older. It includes a focus on crafting, gaming, and other activities, all in the name of celebrating the mustachioed plumber with a penchant for plummeting down pipes and jumping on turtles. The party is happening on Friday, April 3 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Allen Public Library at 300 North Allen Drive in Allen.

The Allen Public Library is also holding another Mario-themed event for a slightly older crowd in late April. A Super Mario Shrinky Dinks event is welcoming teens ages 13-18. It features Super Mario Shrinky Dink patterns provided by the library, or custom art to create trinkets. The event is being held on Wednesday, April 22 from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm at the Allen Public Library.
