Allen will host its annual Stars and Stripes 5K and Fun Run this January.
Kicking off the weekend of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, the 5K portion is aimed at experienced athletes, while the Fun Run is open to beginners and all other skill levels.
Following the races, there is a wrap-up party featuring local vendors at Kelly’s At The Village.
Racing packets can be picked up prior to the race or on the same day, with online registration and an accompanying fee required.
Both the 5K and Fun Run have multiple age groups for both men and women, with the top three runners in each category awarded an Allen Americans hat. The overall winners, for both the men and women categories, will receive an Americans hockey Jersey. A custom race shirt and participation medal will be given to each and every person who Signs up for either the 5K or Fun Run.
The 5K route begins and ends near the Allen Premium Outlets, looping around Saint Andrews Park at the mid-point. The Fun Run traces a shorter segment of this same route.
Racing events like this may choose to use brochure printing to create maps of running routes for participants, informational pamphlets, and race schedules for the season.
The Stars and Stripes 5K and Fun Run is happening on Saturday, January 17 beginning at 7:00 am at 190 E Stacy Rd in Allen.
