This month, The Nutcracker will be performed live at the Allen Performing Arts Center. Accompanied by live music, this performance is an annual holiday staple in Allen.
Allen Civic Ballet will be performing twice over the course of one weekend. This is the opening of their ballet season, and the group performs The Nutcracker every year. The audience follows along with Clara, the main character, as she discovers a new world and saves her nutcracker prince.
The Allen Civic Ballet is a nonprofit organization with the goal of bringing affordable, fun performances to the local community. Dancers ages 12 to 21 can also audition to be part of the company, giving them valuable experience in a professional setting.
This performance is accompanied by the Allen Philharmonic Orchestra, another nonprofit organization with 60 to 70 musicians. It runs a year-round program to help enrich the area and bring a greater appreciation of music.
Tickets to the ballet are currently on sale, and range from $15 to $30. There is a $3 transaction handling fee, either online or in person at the box office. As the Performing Arts Center is attached to the high school, there is plenty of onsite parking.
Events like this often benefit from banner printing, especially in a location such as a high school. There will be two performances of The Nutcracker – one each this Saturday at 7:00 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm.
